Todays motivational sayings were inspired by Alex Blackwell’s post today :“In The Blink of an Eye”
The moving story Alec tells jolted me out of a little self indulgent poor me state that I was going through. I was giving myself a hard time for not getting my blog posts written yesterday…………. The plan had been to map out my posts for this week, and get 4 of them written so I could focus on some money making activities for the week. Somehow the inspiration didn’t come, so I ventured into some social marketing activities, I do now have some new blogging friends and a growing community. I am grateful for that.
Reading In The Blink of an Eye, reminded me to be grateful for my wonderful life and the importance of living in the present.
Alex’s list that reminded him of the the most important things in his life is something I share here to remind me to focus on what’s good in my wonderful life.
• Show gratitude everyday
• Appreciate the small things as much as the large
• Acknowledge your dreams that live inside of you – nurture them, give them energy and work on them every day
• If you have a partner, tell him or her how much you love them, everyday
• If you have children, do the same
• Show one act of random kindness each day
• Give yourself grace for the mistakes made in the past
• Think about how you want to live; not how you don’t want to live
• Tell the Universe, everyday, what you want – and then feel it
• Forgive those who have harmed you; forgiveness isn’t about giving a gift to the offender; it’s about giving yourself the gift of freedom and peace
• Enjoy your first cup of coffee in the morning; sing out loud when your favorite song is played on the radio; and appreciate the time you share with those closest to you.
Today I will focus on living in the NOW. There is no time like the present.
I am going to the beach to reflect on Alex’s list and celebrate life.
How will you celebrate today? Leave a comment below,
Yesterday is history
Tomorrow is a mystery.
And today? Today is a gift.
That’s why we call it the present.

Hola Suzie. Thanks for sharing your gratitude lists.
You got an interesting blog too. I’ve been thinking about moving to WordPress for quite sometimes now. In fact I’ve bought a brand new domain name for myself.
Anyway, see you around. I might need your help with WordPress.
Greetings and lots of love from Malaysia.
A GOOD IDEA there are some great resources out there. I am looking to the day I can pay someone to design me a new one.
Thnaks for the greetings- I have been to Malaysia many years ago
Working as a Hospice Nurse, you learn to love your patients FAST and spend lots of time helping families cope with an imminent loss.
I learned so much from my patients, especially as they taught me to remember that all we really have is the moment. The times that are most sad is when a person gets to the end of their life and they realize they didn’t LIVE their lives, they just existed. It’s difficult to help them make the necessary end-of-life closure unless they learn to start experiencing good/bad, funny/sad, instead of always looking back with regret.
The lucky ones learn early to let themselves experience life, warts and all, for the sheer pleasure of experiencing it.

Hi Brennan,
thanks for adding to this with your reflective comments. I like the closing sentence.
Suzie
That was such a lovely inspiration and a great reminder of what to be grateful for today, thanks for the reminder.
It has helped me to put things into perspective and to live in the now is the only way to travel through life.
This is really motivational for me Suzie. For most people time just drifts away in dreams of what might be – but never is because no action is taken “today”.
When my eldest boy was born I read somewhere to take the time to be with him in his thoughts and life – by that I mean “see” what he does – the beauty in an ant, the wonder at a dew drop on a leaf – the things we all just walk by in our busy lifes. It’s a great way to live.

Thank Mark,
Your comment makes my heart sing, it reflects what I want the highway to become, a place that helps others, by being motivational and inspirational.
At first blush, living “one day at a time” or “in the moment” sounds corny. But it is extremely powerful. Attempting each day to live my life in this way relieves me of much anxiety.
We find this wonderful instruction from so many sources, and I always like to refer to this source:
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
– Matthew 6:34
Thanks for leaving the quote, was one I nearly added.
I’m almost finished reading Tolle’s book, A New Earth. As he was explaining the importance of living in the Now, the only time there ever is, it hit me. When we dwell on the past or worry about the future, we miss the only time we can control and that is the Present.
Today I celebrated by enjoying my coffee as always and going onto my patio being grateful for it. I also cleared my vanity counter and put out a vase of beautiful peach roses tinged with orange. Finally I cleared papers, magazines, etc. that I’ve long neglected and made space for working on my laptop in my bedroom.
I had a great day.
How will I celebrate today? Enjoy my present moment!
Thanks for the great post.
